Summer fun fills August ArtStroll

Before we blink, and mid-summer becomes mid-winter, stroll the Thermopolis downtown businesses during the “Summer Fun” Second Friday ArtStroll/Still Strolling Saturday. This month’s stroll will take place Friday, August 9 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., and Saturday, August 10 during regular business hours.

Lynn Burton will display her intricate handiwork. She will display and sell a fine collection of hand-embellished hats, beaded jewelry, fairy babies, and crocheted scarves using ladder ribbon.

Angela Siems will display and demonstrate oil painting. Many of her paintings are of Wyoming landscapes and animals.

View the art of Berta Mills of Worland, who is from Worland and is always happy to come to the Second Friday ArtStroll. She works mostly with acrylic paint in a wide variety of subjects. She is currently working with sky paintings.

Kaylee Shook, a local artist who graduated from Hot Springs County High School this year, will also show her work. In a few days, Shook and her cat, Whiskey, will head to the University of Northern Colorado to pursue the next step in becoming an art teacher. Her display will include the use of mixed media to create unique pieces and an eclectic collection.

On Still Strolling Saturday, learn the basics of beading. Lynn Burton will offer a beading class from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 10. The cost is $1 to cover the cost of materials.

Strollers are encouraged to pick up a map at any Stroll business to find the location of artists. Return the map to the host business, at the end of Friday evening’s Stroll for a chance at special prizes.

The Second Friday ArtStroll/Still Strolling Saturday is organized by Hot Springs Greater Learning Foundation and Smoking Waters Art Guild with additional support from Main Street Thermopolis, Hot Springs Travel & Tourism and local businesses and individuals.

Contact Lara Shook at 307-630-9058 for more information. Note: The roster of artists, performers, and programs is subject to change.
