Meeting to allow comments on HSSP vendors

The Wyoming Travel, Recreation, Wildlife and Cultural Committee will meet at Thermopolis Middle School July 22 and 23, beginning at 8:30 a.m. each day.

The purpose of this meeting is to continue the committee’s work addressing its interim topics. The committee will receive testimony and information regarding Hot Springs State Park concessions and asset management and other arenas

This year the Wyoming Legislature passed Senate File 166, mandating vendor contracts in the park be a minimum of five years, That means two of the parks vendors, Days Inn and Star Plunge, must either sign contracts or sell to another party willing to manage them for at least the five-year minimum.

Other topics being addressed at the meeting include: the practicability of allowing for license carry-over for bison hunting and continued discussion regarding gaming regulation, specific to lawful wagering and gaming in the state. There will also be an informational update from Game and Fish regarding Wyoming’s preference point system for the hunting of resident and nonresident big game, and an update on HB0002, Regulation of hunting methods (HEA 54), specific to the rules being drafted to limit or prohibit the use of hunting technologies and the selling of wildlife geographic locations.

Individuals who plan to provide materials to the committee during the meeting should provide the materials in electronic format to committee staff and provide sufficient hard copies for members of the committee, committee staff and interested members of the audience. Hard copies should be on three-hole paper.

All materials provided to the committee in written form will be part of the official record of the committee’s meeting and will be on file at the Legislative Service Office.
