Concerned about expansion

I’m not happy about the pollutants coming our way if Aethon greatly expands its Moneta Divide operation.

From what I’ve read I gather it will be mostly salt. While drinking a glass of salty water now and then won’t kill us, do we really want our water to be saltier than it already is? Also, at the web site “Sciencing” I found this information:

“When saltwater enters the soil the plant tries to absorb it through its roots like normal water. However, salt water does not allow for osmosis through the plant tissues ... the salt solution actually draws water out of the plant, dehydrating and eventually killing it .... there is also a danger of salt poisoning. Too much salt interferes with the chemical processes the plant uses to spread nutrients and convert them into useful sugars. This salt intake will also kill the plant.”

Doesn’t sound good for farmers, ranchers or gardeners. And you know, I just can’t convince myself there’s no chance of oil or naturally occurring radiation coming along with all the salt.

Why doesn’t Aethon consider putting thousands of solar panels and a hundred or so wind mills on all that land? Even without the water pollution issue, renewables would be a better way to go than fossil fuels that are turning planet Earth into an overheated greenhouse.
