Not guilty pleas in child endangerment

Monday in Hot Springs District Court, Shawn Goodman Sr. and Melissa Goodman pleaded not guilty to charges against them.

Shawn is charged with two felony counts of child where methamphetamine is stored or ingested, and misdemeanors of unlawful possession of meth and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Melissa is also charged with the two meth-related felonies as well as misdemeanor unlawful possession of meth.

The charges stem from a January 15 incident. During a home inspection several paraphernalia for ingestion of marijuana and meth were located, as well as marijuana, which, according to court documents, Shawn verified as his. Though Melissa was arrested at the scene, Shawn was picked up a short time later during a traffic stop.

Each of the felony charges carries with it a penalty of five years in prison and a $5,000 fine, while the misdemeanors have penalties of one year in prison and a $1,000 fine.
