Fire department holds election

On Tuesday, Jan. 8, the Thermopolis Volunteer Fire Department elected its officers, including Chief Mark Collins, Assistant Chief Bryce Gilbert, Captain Ryan Georgius, First Lieutenant Dale Andreen, Second Lieutenant Jay Erk and Secretary Bob Butchart and Treasurer James Coates.

Appreciation was also shown to outgoing officer Cory Gilbert, who served as captain, for his service and commitment to the office he filled.

Chief Collins also reported there were 92 calls for service in 2018, including 26 vehicle crashes, 25 grass fires that burned 4,148 total acres in Hot Springs County, 24 false alarms, eight reports of hazardous materials or damaged gas meters, three structure fires, three dumpster fires, two good intent/service calls and one assist to another agency.
