Mary Thomas

Mary Ann (Udink) Thomas, 87, passed away on December 22, 2018, surrounded by family at Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital.

She was born April 1, 1931, in Ogden, Utah, to George Udink Sr. and Grace Hanssen, both of whom emigrated from the Netherlands in the early 1900's. Mary was one of fourteen children and was raised on a farm on Wilson Lane. She married Glen W Thomas, Sr. on March 30, 1956, and they later moved to Thermopolis in 1961, where they settled and raised eight children, John, Glen, Catherine, Jim, Tim, Neil, Scott and Ellen. Mary was an excellent homemaker, collector of Dutch heritage items, and loved taking care of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a first-rate cook, known for her artistic talents, and a faithful member of the Thermopolis Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Mary is survived by siblings, Henry (Tom) of Plain City, Utah, Grace of Kenilworth, Utah, Emma of Layton, Utah, and Nora of Denver, Colo.; children, John (JoAnna) of Wichita, Kan., Glen of Thermopolis, Jim (Stacey) of Lander, Tim of Burley, Idaho, Neil (Jennifer) of Riverton, Scott "Taco" of Greybull, and Ellen (Roger) Reed of Thermopolis; grandchildren, Josh, Jared, Tobra, Steven, Skylar, Linsey, Peyton, Riley, Lauren, Aspen, Jackson, and Phillip; and great-grandchildren, Christopher, Caleb, Bryson, Miyah, Dixie, Allie, Gracie, and Jillian.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glen; siblings, George, Minnie, Herman, Eugene, David, Melvin, Richard, William, and Martha; and daughter, Catherine.

Graveside services were held at Monument Hill Cemetery Thursday, December 27 followed by a celebration of life at the VFW. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be sent to the Wyoming Pioneer Home Bingo Fund, which was one of Mary's favorite activities.
