Daniel John Dombeck

Daniel John Dombeck of Thermopolis, Wyo., passed away on October 9, 2018, surrounded by family after a brief illness.

Dan was born on January 13, 1931, at the family farm near Bevent, Wis. Dan was the third child of Leonard and Estelle Dombeck. After graduating from Mosinee High School in 1950, Dan enlisted in the US Air Force. Dan served as an aircraft electronics technician during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1954 as an Airman First Class. After his military service, Dan returned to Wisconsin and began his lifetime career as a journeyman electrician. Dan was married to Shirley Nowinski from 1959 until her passing in 1965. In 1968 Dan married Annette Kirchmeyer, who passed away in 2002.

Dan was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. Dan was active in his local VFW post, just recently serving 2 years as commander. Dan was proud of his involvement with the Knights of Columbus and his long association with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

Dan is survived by his son, David (Linda) Dombeck; daughter, Karen (Brett) Jakovac; grandchildren, Jordan, Noah, and Rachel Jakovac, whom he called his bambinos; sister, Lorrie Lukas; brothers, Jerome (Linda) Dombeck, Jim Dombeck, and Mike (Pat) Dombeck.

Dan was preceded in death by his wives; parents; infant twin brothers, Leonard and Joseph Dombeck; sister, Dorothy (John) Wasniewski; brother-in-law Calvin Lukas; and sister-in-law Sally Dombeck.

No services will be held at this time. A funeral and celebration of life will take place in Thermopolis in 2019. The family suggests donations in Dan’s memory to Hunting With Heroes Wyoming, huntingwithheroes.org or PO Box 51736, Casper, WY 82605.
