Your source for news in Hot Springs County
Just like most communities in the country, Thermopolis and Hot Springs County have sex offenders living within their borders. We publish notices of new offenders in the area when they come to us, but the Hot Springs County Sheriff’s Office also provides a way for people to be alerted.
Kim Black with the sheriff’s office explained people can go online to the county website, hscounty.com, go to the Departments header and click on “Sheriff.” From there, scroll down to and click on the “Important Links” tab, then click “Hot Springs County Wyoming Sex Offender Registry.”
From this page, Black stated, people can register for alerts, which she noted is a good idea if a person has email. People can also click on “Search for Offenders in your area,” which provides several options to look up offenders. Black noted she uses “Other Search Options” to look up all offenders registered with the Hot Springs County Sheriff’s Office, but there are other options and details are available for each offender. The information provided is public and allowed by the State of Wyoming.
Black stated, “Remember that these are the people we know about. Always be cautious as many offenders have not been identified as offenders and we do not want anyone to become a victim.”
Halloween will soon be here, Black added, and offenders are not required to put signs on their doors as anybody could easily remove them. “Our offenders know that they must not pass out treats for Halloween, and they are to keep their porch lights off.”
