Golfers hosting tournament

The Bobcat golf team went over the mountain last Thursday for the Buffalo Invitational Golf Tourney.

Coach Joey Johnson said the Buffalo course is the hardest the team has played so far this year and their first day scores reflected that. Trees were an issue for the Cats on the Buffalo course, the greens ran very fast and were hard to reach, proving a challenge to the young team.

Day one scores were Hardy Johnson, 74; Jeffry Clark, 101; Lee Grimm, 140; Kyle Roessing, 110; Will Clark, 133 and Maddie Stam, 109.

Scores did improve the second day with Johnson shooting an 82 to place 2nd; Jeffry Clark, 98; Grimm, 99; Roessing, 108; Will Clark, 110 and Stam, 108.

“While the day one scores were not where they needed to be,” coach Johnson said, “they made significant improvements on their second day, learning from their mistakes.

“The Buffalo tournament is a very competitive tournament and as a team we were at the bottom of the pack. Our first day boy’s team score was 418, which is not where we had hoped to be.

“Our second day team total was 387, which I think keeps us on track to be quite competitive at the State 2A tournament.”

Today (Thursday) and tomorrow the Cats are at home as they host the Bobcat Invitational. Play begins at the Thermopolis Golf Course at 9 a.m.
