Pro chickens means pro personal rights

To whom it may impact (directly)

In March, I presented a plan and a path to provisionally allow chickens within a restricted area of Thermopolis to the city council, since then (supposedly) “numerous” anti-chicken phone calls have been received and thus, the hesitation on making a decision, apparently a few phone calls still outweigh 50 to 100 pro chicken signatures.

The five members of the elected council seem to be scared to even make a motion toward progress because of these calls, let alone vote on allowing chickens within town limits here in Thermopolis. I desired a simple course with limited impact upon city resources and its citizens.

Do we really have to present a (yet another) petition or harass our city employees with phone calls to get, what should be, a personal property right legalized?

As of the end of March we had the verbal support of three out of five councilmen and were headed to a positive change in the chicken decision, now once again a few have bullied the masses.

How many of those “many calls” have come from the area prescribed in my plan? Now, who is “the nuisance” that is wasting time and resources, the complainers about the chickens or those who want to increase and benefit the community? Pro chickens means pro personal rights, prosperity and progress, is this something we want?

The harassment, fear and hesitation makes me think that some are in danger of “turning fowl” when it comes to doing the right thing. We will see prosperity and progress here eventually, why not start the trend today. Can we at least move, to make a motion, in the right direction?

Please wait to see what happens at the (next) council meeting before “berating” the city/state with pro-chicken calls, FB posts, letters, emails, texts & billboards. Thank you.
