Calling for chili cook off contestants

The FFA Alumni will host a chili cook off at the Hot Springs County Fairgrounds Multipurpose Building on Thursday, Aug. 3 beginning at 5 p.m.

Those who want to enter their chili need to register before Aug. 2. Contestants can either cook at home or at the building, and bring condiments such as cheese, onions and chips to compliment their chili. Keep in mind a roaster full of 2-3 gallons of chili is needed. Bowls and spoons will be provided.

There will be winners for the best red chili, best green chili and the people’s choice. Cash prizes will be awarded.

People can sample the chilis for $8 per bowl, with unlimited refills. Dessert is also included, and drinks will be available for purchase. Proceeds will go to the FFA Alumni. Following the cook off, stick around the fairgrounds to catch the Beef Show, beginning at 6 p.m.
