Hospitality training this month

While there were not enough board members to provide a quorum during the Hot Springs Travel and Tourism board’s Tuesday meeting, Director Amanda Moeller spoke with regard to the upcoming hospitality training, May 31 at Hot Springs County Museum.

Moeller has been working with Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Meri Ann Rush to provide the intensive training, presented by Ginny Garner, a hospitality instructor from Casper College. There will be two three-hour sessions, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 to 3 p.m., and they are provided free to the public.

Moeller encourages business owners and their employees to attend the training, which covers such topics as why tourists are important and why we are all ambassadors for Thermopolis.

She noted it is important to all of us to treat people well, as the way tourists are treated while they’re here might sour their opinion of the town.

The Travel and Tourism Board currently has two vacancies. One is for the Town of Thermopolis, which is a tourism position and as such must be held by someone who representative of the travel and tourism industry. The second is for East Thermopolis, and is an “at large” position.

Those interested in the East Thermopolis position can send a letter of interest, while those who want to apply for the Town of Thermopolis spot can do so online at http://www.townofthermopolis.com/PDF/BoardApplicationForm.pdf
