The Thermopolis-Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce will begin seeking nominations for Business of the Year, Non-Profit Organization and Citizen of the Year.
Nomination forms will be sent to current Chamber members in good standing on or before Jan. 6, to nominate exceptional citizens, businesses and non-profit organizations for the 2016 year. Members should have nomination forms to the Chamber office on or before Feb. 3.
The Chamber Executive Board reviews all nominations and selects those qualified under the criteria, and presents those qualified to Chamber Board of Directors and Past Presidents. The Board of Directors and Past Presidents then vote, by written ballot, for the Citizen, Non-Profit and Business of the Year at the February Chamber meeting.
Those nominated will be notified and requested to attend the annual Chamber banquet, March 18 at the HSC Fair Building. Chamber Executive Director Meri Ann Rush said there are only four people who know the winners prior to the event.
This year’s banquet theme is “Around the World,” and those interested in being on the Banquet Committee are encouraged to call the Chamber at 864-3192, or show up the committee meeting at the Chamber Jan. 5, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Criteria for Business of the Year and Non-Profit of the Year nominees includes: a minimum of one year membership in the Chamber of Commerce; being active in the community and contributing to the community’s well being; displaying a strong commitment to customer satisfaction and dedication to existing customer base; and having made a difference in the community, according to the nominator. Businesses and non-profits can be nominated and win consecutive years.
Criteria for Citizen of the Year includes: being a resident of Thermopolis or Hot Springs County; having contributed to the community’s well being; involvement in community and/or Chamber events; going above and beyond for the betterment of the town and county; and having made a difference for residents of the town and county. The final two items are based on the opinion of the nominator.
