On the Record policy

It is the Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police calls” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Clarification

Page 2 of the Oct. 27 edition of the IR should read that Karl Bert David Loos, rather than Karl Loos, was arrested for alleged battery and interference with an officer.

Sheriff’s department

Tuesday, October 25

7:31 p.m. A subject, Simon Longneck, was arrested for allegedly being an intoxicated subject on the Highway. Longneck was in the area of 510 on Highway 20 North, and said he was walking to Montana. Longneck was released October 28. He was found guilty, and sentenced to 10 days in jail with seven days suspension and six months unsupervised probation.

Thursday, October 27

10:48 a.m. Female subject requested her property be watched, as she was worried her son might do something to it.

2:23 p.m. A welfare check was performed on a subject, who called and stated he was en route home.

Friday, October 28

9:49 a.m. Report of a vehicle passing a school bus. Deputy was in the process of trying to locate the vehicle and driver.

12:08 p.m. Report of a horse that was missing or stolen.

Saturday, October 29

10:26 a.m. Report of shotgun pellets found near the caller’s home. A hunter was contacted and denied any allegation, but would be more aware of where he was shooting.

5 p.m. A backpack was found at the mouth of the canyon. The bag belongs to an incarcerated subject.

Monday, October 31

7:37 p.m. Complaint of a loud noise like gunshots or fireworks near a home.

Tuesday, October 25

1:17 a.m. Report of suspicious subjects. The subjects could not be located.

6:22 a.m. Complainant heard a sound like someone moving wood. Responding officers found no subjects, only a few wild rabbits and deer droppings.

10:35 a.m. Accident occurred, in which an RT Communications box was struck.

2:30 p.m. Complainant received a package delivered to the wrong address, and brought it to the Law Enforcement Center. The package was delivered to the correct recipient.

3:27 p.m. Vehicle was parked in a lot for an extended period of time. The driver stated there was something wrong with the vehicle, but was warned it had to be moved or it would be towed.

4:43 p.m. Several complaints were made about a barking dog. The owner was contacted and given a verbal warning.

5:42 p.m. Complaint of a barking dog. Upon arrival, officer did not notice any dogs barking, but left a note for the owner.

6:08 p.m. REDDI report of someone unable to maintain lane of travel. The subject in question was elderly, and an officer followed her home to make sure she was OK.

Wednesday, October 26

8:05 a.m. Report of a barking dog. Responding officer did not notice any barking dog, but notified the owner of the complaint.

9:47 a.m. A cat was trapped and turned over to the vet clinic.

9:48 a.m. Two kittens were trapped and taken over to the vet.

4:55 p.m. Call came in of four trucks being a nuisance in the buffalo pasture. The drivers were spoken to and warned they could be banned from the park.

8:25 p.m. A black toolbox was taken from the 200 block of North Ninth.

10:42 p.m. The parole officer was looking for a subject that keeps avoiding him, and was able to get some information.

Thursday, October 27

9:20 a.m. Two subjects were served with trespassing at a residence.

9:45 p.m. Complaint about an ATV rider going too fast and spinning cookies. The driver was advised to stop.

Friday, October 28

2:50 p.m. Caller was concerned about the welfare of a dog. The dog is on a chain that allows it to go anywhere in the yard, and appeared to be in good health.

9:11 p.m. A dog ran away from home, but returned later.

10:03 p.m. Complainant reported an unknown vehicle struck his. The damage was under $1,000.

Saturday, October 29

3:55 p.m. Report of two juveniles throwing items against the side of a business. The juveniles were identified and spoken to, and one confessed to throwing items.

5:50 p.m. Caller had been walking a dog on a leash when a dog from a neighboring yard attacked hers.

11:10 p.m. Complaint about a fire in a wood stove creating sparks from a chimney. Responding officer did not observe any sparks.

Sunday, October 30

3:30 p.m. Report of smoke coming from a local business. Upon arrival, the officer could not locate any smoke.

4:09 p.m. Dogs escaped from a yard, but were later found and returned home.

6:40 p.m. Call came in concerning an injured buck. The animal was found and put down.

Saturday, October 31

3:06 p.m. Caller reported two unleashed dogs in Candy Jack Park. The owner was contacted and reminded dogs have to be on leashes in town.

4:39 p.m. Report of a dispute in a parking lot. The incident involved a custody exchange, with parents arguing about a child’s bike.

6:59 p.m. Report of a barking dog in the Cedar Ridge area. The officer did not hear any dogs, but did see plenty of trick or treaters.
