Tai Chi classes at senior center

All of us get to an age where maybe we aren’t quite as steady on our feet as we used to be or as flexible as we once were, but Tai Chi may be the answer you’ve been looking for.

Dixie Vialpando, Tai Chi instructor, will be teaching a 12-week course designed to assist seniors with improving their balance and flexibility.

“I did yoga previously,” Vialpando said, “but because of physical constraints, I had to give it up. That’s when I found Tai Chi.”

Vialpando took a course through the Wyoming Department of Health to gain her certification as a Tai Chi instructor, learning from an educator from Colorado’s Department of Health.

“You get to an age where you find yourself faltering,” she said. “The moves I teach will help you recognize what your fall points are and help you improve your balance.”

Classes will begin on Monday, Oct. 17 at 9 a.m. at the Hot Springs County Senior Center, but you must call ahead since space is limited, at 864-2151.

Please wear comfortable clothes, including tennis shoes or other comfortable footwear.
