Shooting camp

Hot Springs County 4-H members attended shooting sports camp at the H Diamond W camp on Grass Creek Friday through Sunday. Participants learned about archery, muzzleloaders, shotguns, .22 pistols, air pistols and air rifles.

The camp featured an instructor who has trained youths for Olympic air rifle and pistol who taught advanced air rifle. Wyoming Game and Fish representatives taught wildlife identification, animal tracks, pelts and hunting ethics. Jill Tonn from the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation taught members about elk habitat and the importance of maintaining a habitat for the elk populations across the United States.

Shooting sports members are getting ready for the State 4-H Shooting Sports Competition in Douglas July 7-10.
