National DAR president in town for conference

President General Lynn F. Young will be the guest of honor at the annual conference of the Wyoming State Society Daughters of the American Revolution Thursday May 19 through Saturday, May 22 in Thermopolis. The theme for this 101st State Conference is “Leading Wyoming DAR Into Our Second Century.”

Young has been a DAR member for 36 years. She was elected to head the National Society in 2013 and this will be the last state conference of her term.

Young will be the special guest speaker at the “Night at the Museum” Dinosaur Center activity Friday night.

A Saturday night banquet at the Days Inn conference center will honor members of the armed services, specifically focusing on the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War. Local VFW Post 2281 is planning to present the colors and recognition certificates and pins will be distributed to veterans. Members of the local DAR Washakie Chapter will be on hand.
