Filing date deadline May 27 for primary election

The Hot Springs County deadline filing date for offices for the primary election proclamation for 2016 is May 27.

Several offices will be on the primary election ballot for local, state and federal offices.

Partisan offices to be nominated at the primary election include one U.S. Representative to serve a two-year term, one State Senator for Senate District 20 to serve a four-year term, one State Representative for House District 28 to serve a two-year term, one County Commissioner to serve a four-year term and one County Coroner to serve a two-year term.

Other partisan offices to be nominated at the primary election include six pairs of Republican Precinct Committeemen and Committeewomen to serve two-year terms, four pairs of Democratic Precinct Committeemen and Committeewomen to serve two-year terms, four pairs of Libertarian Precinct Committeemen and Committeewomen to serve two-year terms and four pairs of Constitution Precinct Committeemen and Committeewomen to serve two-year terms.

Non-partisan offices to be nominated at the primary election for the town of Thermopolis include two council members to serve four-year terms.

Non-partisan offices to be nominated at the primary election for the town of East Thermopolis include two council members to serve four-year terms.

Non-partisan offices to be nominated at the primary election for the town of Kirby include two council members to serve four-year terms.

Other offices that will appear on the primary election ballot will include Secretary of State for federal and state offices, including State Legislature, County Clerk for county offices, precinct committeemen and committeewomen and Town Clerk for municipal offices.

The last day to register to vote at the County Clerk's office for the primary election is Aug. 2. Individuals may register at polls on primary election day with proper identification. The primary election day will be Aug. 16.

Offices to be elected at the general election that will not appear on the primary election ballot include three Justices of the Supreme Court to serve eight-year terms, one Judge A of the District Court of the Fifth Judicial District to serve a six-year term and one pair of United States President and Vice President to serve a four-year term.
