    The Bobcat high school speech and debate team took part in their first tournament of the season on Saturday, a novice meet presented by Jackson and Cheyenne East. With 11 teams across the state participating, the Cats brought home their first 1A-2A Sweeps Championship in the online-only platform.   • Bring on the Band

    The 2020 State Marching Festival was held digitally this year instead of 22 bands descending on the Casper Events Center. Each band was required to record a video of their performance and submit it to a group of six judges. The Bobcat Marching Band performed their show, The Music of Remember the Titans, on Thursday evening in 30 degree weather.     This Friday the Bobcats will host Cokeville for their homecoming game at 5 p.m. at the high school football field. Prior to the game at 4:30 p.m., senior team members in football, cheer, marching band a golf senior will be honored for Senior Night. Homecoming royalty will be announced during halftime of the football game.     With the start of school just around the corner, it is time once again for the People for People Backpack program to get rolling. The program is a group of volunteers in the community dedicated to stopping hunger for local children by filling backpacks with food that are distributed on Friday’s so they have something to eat over the weekend.     Activities Director for the Hot Springs County School District, Brandon Deromedi, presented the district’s plan for summer workouts for fall sports last week, including weight room and open gym plans.     Several Hot Springs County School District seniors signed letters of intent for the colleges they will be attending in the fall. Ashley McPhie has signed a letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic career at Rocky Mountain College in Billings, MT. McPhie will join the women's basketball team for the Battlin' Bears.     Hot Springs County High School’s Bobcat Speech and Debate team brought home the State Championship for 1A/2A last weekend. The team was on the road headed to the State Tournament in Green River on March 12 when they received the call that the Wyoming High School Activities Association (WHSAA) had cancelled the tournament due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Breeze Petty and Tyler Kay have earned co-Valedictorian honors, sharing a 4.32 weighted cumulative GPA as a result of earning straight A's throughout high school while taking numerous 1000 level college classes.     The Bobcat Speech and Debate team came through with yet another first place win, their sixth for the season, at the Worlando Beach tournament last weekend. The team worked their way through 20 teams to come out on top with eight competitors making the stage.     Hot Springs County High School’s Speech and Debate team brought home their third first place win of the season from the Jackson Hole tournament last Saturday. Putting up 50 points, the Bobcats were actually third overall for the tournament behind Riverton and Natrona.
