At the December 21 Thermopolis Town Council meeting, Mayor Mike Chimenti had Town Attorney Marshall Keller swear in Pat Cornwell as the Chief of Police. Raymond Eldon Maret, 91, passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2021. Ray was born on a ranch near Thermopolis, Wyo., on September 15, 1930, to parents Don W. Maret and Anna Johnson Maret. He attended school there, graduating from Hot Springs County High School in 1948. After a couple of years at University of Wyoming, he joined the National Guard and served in the Korean War, where he was injured by an exploding shell. Under the new lodging tax passed in 2020, these entities are no longer excused from charging their customers a tax on lodging services. Slide stabilization work has been completed adjacent to US20/WY789 between Shoshoni and Thermopolis at the north edge of the Upper Wind River Campground.
