Monday afternoon in Hot Springs District Court, Lane Gunkel was sentenced to a period of seven to nine years in the Wyoming State Penitentiary. That sentence comes with a recommendation he attend the Boot Camp program. Should he complete the program, Gunkel would be eligible for a reduced sentence. The Mineral Tax Division of the Wyoming Department of Revenue has released the estimated taxable values of oil and gas for Wyoming through Sept. 2016. Hot Springs County Assessor, Shelley Deromedi said the values are lower, however, the oil estimate looks better at the nine-month mark than it did at the six-month mark. The value estimate for oil at the six-month mark was just 58% of 2015’s estimated value, but now is about 10 percent higher.
