    The Hot Springs County Board of Commissioners took another step towards the grand opening of the new Hot Springs County airport during its meeting Tuesday.     Hot Springs County High School's Lady Bobcat volleyball team took on Rocky Mountain last Saturday, winning all three games, 25-25, 25-12 and 25-14.     A mass dispensing exercise is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 27 by the Hot Springs County Public Health to simulate exposure to an Anthrax agent.     The Bobcat cross county girls team brought home first place from the 5 Rivers Conference meet. Jules Ward took first place with a time of 19 minutes flat. She took 52 seconds off her time from when she ran the course in September. "Our kids had some huge improvements and that's what we want to see," coach Brenna Able declared.     In June of 2016, Harley Rhodes, a student at Oklahoma State University & former graduate of Hot Springs County High School, will be joining 100 other Pi Kappa Phi’s from universities across the country and embarking on a 68-day “Journey of Hope.” The Journey of Hope is a 4,000 mile cross-country cycling trek that raises funds and awareness on behalf of people with disabilities.     Orval Don Ownsby, 65, died Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015, at Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital in Thermopolis after years of battling heart disease. Born December 29, 1949, in Pampa, Texas, he was the son of Elmer and Effie Jo (Gregory) Ownsby. Raised in Oklahoma and Arizona, he worked as a chef then spent much of his life in the oilfields. Born December 28, 1912, in Cozad, Neb., she was one of eight children of Jesse and Olivia (Barham) Linn. The family moved to Kansas where Etta graduated from high school. In 1935 she married Ralph Mayer in Kansas. In the early 1940’s the couple and their family moved to Rawlins, Wyo. Following her husband’s death, Etta moved to Baggs in 1981 to be closer to family.
