The Wyoming Legislature’s Joint Committee on Travel, Recreation, Wildlife and Cultural Resources held a meeting in Thermopolis last week to go over a number of items in the State Park system as well as discuss the RFP’s for the Star Plunge and Days Inn. The Hot Springs County Fair kicks off on Saturday, July 25 with the Horse Show beginning at 8 a.m. All events will be held at the HSC Fairgrounds. David V. Kovash, 83, passed away July 13, 2020, at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper. David lived at the Thermopolis Rehabilitation and Wellness Center, along with his spouse, Bonnie, prior to his hospitalization in Casper, Wyo. One of three children of Vincent and Lena (Shypkowski) Kovash, he was born September 17, 1936, in Belfield, N. D. He served in the US Army from 1959-1961. Adrian Alvie Simonson, 83, passed away July 9, 2020. He was one of the second set of twins born to Oscar George Simonson and Nida Margret Smith Simonson. Adrian and his sister, Ada, were born August 18, 1936, in Thermopolis, Wyo. Adrian served in the Army from July 1955 to July 1961, which included the Korean Conflict. Adrian married Rose Ada Sellers in Salt Lake City, Utah. Four sons were born to them, Joseph Lee Simonson, Jay Martin Simonson, Paul Allen Simonson, Samuel George Simonson. The Farmers Market is starting soon and is now managed by Douglas Nelson. Nelson said that he is looking for more vendor participants to add their wares to the market. He added that he thinks with the more global shortages of food that people would be more interested in shopping locally. Another thrilling season of Hot Springs County Recreation District adult softball came to an end Wednesday, July 15 when One Stop Sparkplugs were crowned champions. After a grueling regular season, One Stop Sparkplugs entered the playoffs with a first round bye directly to the semis, but the OEB had to fight their way through to meet them.
