A Thermopolis Middle School teacher was recently named the Hot Springs County School District’s Teacher of the Year for 2021. Thermopolis Middle School Principal Steven Soderstrom presented sixth-grade teacher Jacob Strenger to the Hot Springs County School District Board of Trustees as the Teacher of the Year during their May 20 meeting. Thermopolis residents, Thomas Schoenewald and Lea Cavalli Schoenewald, recently wrote a new book revealing the past and current history of the Hot Springs State Park. During the Covid situation last year the Schoenewalds were hiking around the State Park area seeking out where the old zoo was located. Mildred Arnetta "Millie" Grieve, 86, passed away May 26, 2021, at the Life Care Center of Casper. The daughter of Hyrum and Mildred (Garver) Seeley, Millie was born November 2, 1934 in Ashton, Idaho. Bryson Dean Bain was born on October 14, 1978, to Jesse and Ruby (Dickey) Bain in Worland, Wyo. Bryson’s elementary school years were spent in Rawlins, Wyo., and the family later moved to Thermopolis, Wyo., where Bryson graduated from Hot Springs County High School in 1997. Hot Springs Memorial Hospital Foundation, Inc. has awarded $24,000.00 to Hot Springs Health to be applied toward the acquisition of 3D Digital Mammography equipment in the Department of Radiology. The new equipment is up and running at Hot Springs Health. The equipment will allow Hot Springs Health to provide state of the art mammography screenings in Hot Springs County.
