    Though the Hot Springs County Recreation District’s Adult Co-Ed Softball League opened it season May 14, the almost continuous rain the past couple weeks have muddied the fields and caused several delays. The opening day resulted in a 13-12 victory for One Stop Repair over Slide One In, and an 11-8 win for Storyteller over the Rated “R Superstars.     The Hot Springs County Pioneer Association is pleased to announce the 2019 winners of the Jessie C. Thompson Writing Contest in Hot Springs County schools. This is the eighth year of a ten-year program to award students a cash prize for writing based on historical themes from Hot Springs County and Wyoming. Mrs. Jessie C.     As we look at our small town, often what we notice are the numbers of businesses that are closing. Some would say we have a lot of homes that are vacant or for sale as well. Statistically speaking, we are actually rather stagnant with the number of homes for sale, at least since 2017. For the past two years, the average sale price of homes in Hot Springs County has stayed at $151,200 and in the Town of Thermopolis at $133,600.     The Hot Springs County Fairgrounds will be home to the Junior Livestock Show on Friday, June 7 beginning at noon. Participants will enter their animals the day of the show, and the order of showing will be swine, lambs, heifers and beef. Weigh in times and fees are: 9:45 a.m. for swine, $25 per head; 10:30 a.m. for lambs, $20 per head; and 11 a.m. for cattle, $30 per head. Prizes include buckles, banners and cash.     During the May 21 meeting of Hot Springs Travel and Tourism, board members approved the final proposed budget for the 2019-20 fiscal year. It was noted at the meeting that there is still some time to change the budget prior to it being submitted to the State of Wyoming.
