    At the January 4 Hot Springs County Commissioners meeting, the commissioner performed their 2022 Reorganization. They reelected Tom Ryan as Chairman. Phil Scheel was selected as Vice-Chairman, which was previously held by Jack Baird.     The first baby of 2022 born at Hot Springs Health was a girl, Lailyn Rae Lamb. She was born at 1:15 p.m. on January 6. She was 18.5 inches, 6 pounds, 12 ounces. Mom, Ryleigh Rickard, and dad, Levi Lamb, welcomed their daughter. Doctor Hallie Bischoff delivered Lailyn. Hospital Auxiliary's Donna Cole presented gifts to the family.   • Firemen respond to two house fires

    Two residential fires happened in Thermopolis last week that displaced at least one homeowner and left a dog dead. One of the fires was located at a residence on Circle Drive and started Friday, January 7 at 11:56 p.m. The other fire was at a residence on Lane 5 and started Saturday, January 8 at 8:16 p.m. Thermopolis Volunteer Fire Department Chief Mark Collins said the cause of the fires has not been determined.     At the January 4 Thermopolis Town Council Meeting at Town Hall, they held a brief meeting. Town Engineer Anthony Barnett said that he checked some manholes on Peppermint Lane and measured the sewers. They also received some sample tests from the landfill and sent the data to the DEQ. During codes administration, Fred Crosby reported that the addition at Family Dollar is progressing. They will be paving asphalt for additional parking.     Hot Springs County Assessor Daniel Webber has announced that currently qualified Hot Springs County veterans or their surviving spouse should contact the Assessor’s Office by telephone to renew their Veteran’s Exemption for 2022 on their property taxes. If the applicant will be using the exemption for vehicle licensing, they will need to stop by the Assessor’s Office when they come in the courthouse to renew their registration.     Alfred "Al" James Jackson passed on January 4, 2022, just shy of his 102 birthday. Al was born in Burlington, Wyo., February 16, 1920, to William and Christine (Peterson) Jackson.     Catherine Lois "Cathy" Drageset, 70, passed away Sunday, January 9, 2022, at her residence in Thermopolis, Wyo., after a period of declining health. Born November 16, 1951, in Thermopolis, she was one of four children of Saul and Jene (Spinus) Larson. She worked in her parent's drugstore for several years.     The Bobcat Varsity Boys Basketball team came back from the holiday break to start their weekend with a slow start against Pinedale last week, with a score of zero at the end of the first quarter.     Remains of missing Texas woman found in Cody POWELL (WNE) — The remains of a 29-year-old woman who’d been missing for weeks were found Monday in Cody. On Wednesday, police identified the deceased as Rachel Sirman of Texas. Cody police said they’d had “intermittent contact” with Sirman between September 2020 and June 2021, describing her as transient.
