There were some changes in leadership during the Hot Springs County Commissioners meeting Tuesday. John Lumley stepped down and Tom Ryan was newly elected the chair of the Hot Springs County Commission going into 2018 with Phillip Scheel as the new vice chair. Theron Huston Mills, 91, of Casper, passed away December 22, 2017, at Life Care Center of Casper. Theron was born October 12, 1926, in Caddo, Okla., to Robert and Addie (Burris) Mills. He graduated from Caddo High School in 1944. He enlisted in the United States Army in January of 1945 and was honorably discharged in June of 1947. Margaret May Perdue-Wild, 79, passed away at her residence in Thermopolis on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017. Born April 29, 1938, in Los Angeles, Calif., she was one of three children of Chester and Helen (Kroulik) Williams. The family moved to Colorado when Margaret was a child. She graduated from Longmont High School. On March 20, 1955, she married Gene Perdue in New Mexico and the couple settled in Lyons, Colo. The Bighorn Bowhunters will host their New Year’s Shoot at the Hot Springs County Fairgrounds on Sunday, Jan. 7 at the Hot Springs County Fairgrounds. The event will feature at 450 Vegas shoot and a 28 target 3D shoot. Josh Lynch said they will be using both the main fair building and the multipurpose building with its indoor arena for the shoots. Seven students from Thermopolis Middle School will be competing in the Challenge of the Books on Jan. 10 at the armory. Challenge of the Books is a contest for middle school students who love to read and they are expecting to host about seven other schools for the competition. A list of 12 books, which come from the Soaring Eagle and Indian Paintbrush nominee lists, are given to the children to read each August. Tuesday evening, Thermopolis Town Council approved replacing the bulbs in the decorative street lights with LED bulbs. Mayor’s Assistant Fred Crosby explained the town was recently approved for the wattsmart® incentive program through Rocky Mountain Power. Through the program, $9,287.40 of the total $22,632 project cost will be covered, leaving the remaining $13,344.60 to be covered by the town. The Lady Bobcat JV/freshmen team took on Ft. Washakie just before Christmas break, unfortunately losing a close one, 44-40. Coach Katie Despain said, “Overall, this game was good for our girls to experience. Ft.
