Keep an eye out for the kids

The graduating Class of 2032 started kindergarten Wednesday.

The newest little sparks of flame that make up the Thermopolis Bobcats began their journey with new backpacks, crayons and glue sticks just like countless alumni that came before them.

There is a difference, though.

These days they’ve gone beyond “The Three R’s”, reading, writing and ‘rithmetic, to computers and robotics and common core.

Every child has the same opportunity in the Hot Springs County School District to not only receive the best education possible, but to leave those hallowed halls with a sense of who they are and where they’re going.

By the time 2032 rolls around, they will have spent 13 years making life-long friends and gaining confidence in themselves and their abilities. They will go out into the world prepared to take it on, knowing they have done their best.

And they do their best surrounded by educators that don’t just care about what grade a student has, but that they are safe, happy and well rounded once they leave their care. People who take the extra time to ensure they really understand that math equation or can tap out a paradiddle on their drum the right way.

In just a few short months, although it won’t feel that way to them, the Class of 2019 will be making their final walk across the stage as high school graduates, but before they do, there will undoubtedly be that trip through the halls at RWE where the Class of 2032 will see what they can accomplish.

So keep an eye out for the kids every morning as you drive to work, pay attention to the crossing guards, and kudos to the Class of 2019 and the Class of 2032.
