TTWLTM takes softball championship

Thursday evening saw The Team We Like The Most (TTWLTM) taking the championship title for the Hot Springs County Recreation District Adult Co-Ed Softball League, after a 20-18 win against One Stop Repair.

According to information from the HSC Rec District, "One Stop jumped out to an early 9-3 lead middle of the third inning, before a David Evans three RBI homerun narrowed the gap, but the challengers were in a rhythm at the plate, and their fielding wasn't giving up anything easy.

"Then, in the bottom of the fifth, TTWLTM turned the tables and jumped out to a 17-11 lead, plating nine runs in the inning. Now it was One Stop's turn to chase the game. They would not back down, driving in six runs to tie the game at 17 in the middle of the sixth. The bottom half of the order would come up big for their opponents, however, when Amanda Deniz and Skylar Thomas slammed back-to-back pitches into the fence. Three runners scored to make it 20-17. One Stop would not go away, however, and they were about to come back around to the top of the order.

"Ryan O'Connor blasted a lead off triple to start the seventh inning - his third triple of the game - with a Jackie Frankson SAC Fly bringing him home to cut the lead to two runs. The crowd buzzed with nervous energy as a final-inning comeback became a very real possibility.

"Joe Czarobski laced the next pitch into the outfield for a stand-up double, which brought the tying run to the plate with only one out. Czarobski was looking to bring them within one, and when Jess Benefiel hit an ankle-high line drive towards second, it looked like he would. TTWLTM shortstop Evans somehow managed to snag the ball in his mitt, and dove towards second base. He met a scrambling Czarobski with the tag just before the runner could return, recording the game-ending double play and securing the championship for his team."

Standout performers at the championship match were David Evans with a .750 average, one home run, two runs and six RBIs for TTWLTM, and Erin Dyok with a .800 average, two runs and five RBIs for One Stop.
