Chamber selects nomination committee

To prepare for board elections, the Thermopolis-Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce board selected the nomination committee of Amanda Kraushaar, Greg Willson and Phil Scheel at their July meeting.

Chamber Executive Director Meri Ann Rush explained the committee’s job will be to present a slate of at least four people to run for the board, during the August board meeting. At last week’s meeting, Vivian Butchart and Robin Griffin — both of whose seats are up — expressed interest in being on the ballot again. The board has a vacancy due to the resignation of Toby Homi. Though Pastor Sam Needham’s seat is also up, he was not at the meeting to say whether he was interested in being on the ballot.

An application to the board from Susan Linko was approved and she was appointed, with a term expiring Oct. 31, 2020. Linko was appointed to a vacancy from last year’s election.

Also during the meeting, the board discussed allowing political candidates to set up tables at the upcoming demolition derby.

Another topic addressed at the meeting was the annual Christmas decorations. Rush said some citizens got together in regard to the decorations, and there is interest in refurbishing the wreaths around town. There has also been some discussion about what decorations people would like to see around town and fundraising to replace some of the decorations.

Those interested in joining the discussion can contact Rush at the chamber office, 864-3192.
