Maintain Missouri Flat Road

Please think again before taking the asphalt off Missouri Flat Road. I have lived here most of my life and we were glad when an asphalt road was finally put in. Gravel is muddy and dangerous in the snow besides being hard on cars and trucks. The bentonite trucks go by, tractors, dump trucks as well as local traffic and the school bus. With a gravel road the rocks would be kicked up, breaking our car and house windows.

We also have a hill to go over and gravel would make that road more dangerous than it already is. It is needing guard rails now but maybe after someone gets killed they will consider putting some up.

Yes, there is a bump in the road because too much asphalt was put on it in your repair. So smooth off the bump and fix it right! Don’t create a bigger problem by tearing up the whole road because of one bump! Maybe we could use a speed bump to slow people down.

I have called before when, due to snow melt and rain storms, the water on the other side of the road runs like a river and threatens to flood over the road. If you lower the road it will come over the road and my house will get flooded and water will come over and get into my well that is there.

If it costs $200,000 to tear up the road it seems like it would be cheaper to just maintain the road. I have never seen any debris on the road except for cow pies where the cows have been.

I doubt the snowplows would even come on gravel roads in the winter! And have you considered the problem that creates for the school bus?

Please don’t go backwards! Build better not worse!
