Champs Chicken open for business

At the Southside Travel Center, the restaurant space once again is seeing life, with the opening of a Champs Chicken location.

Marian Lanik explained when the owners of the previous restaurant put in notice they were going to move, she met with the building owners to determine what could go in the space. After doing some research, she decided Champs would be a good franchise.

In addition to chicken, the restaurant also has fish and shrimp available, and Lanik hopes to have pork tenderloin this week. There are also multiple sides as well.

Business has been good since the opening, Lanik said, and the grand opening celebration last Friday went very well. She noted any coupons given out during the event could still be used through July 14.

Though a bit harried since opening in June, Lanik said things are starting to settle down in the month since they’ve been open. She expressed her appreciation to the community and local businesses for their support.

Champs Chicken is open 6 a.m.-7 p.m., seven days a week, but closed on Christmas and Easter.
