Resource tour set for June 20

A great way to get a sampling of what is going on in Hot Springs County in relation to natural resources is the tour provided by Hot Springs County Weed and Pest on Wednesday, June 20.

A spring tradition for about 10 years, those wishing to go on the natural resource tour will meet at weed and pest at 9 a.m.

The tour will begin with a trip out to the WyoBen plant to take a peek at the reclamation projects they have going on, followed by a visit to an area of Jones Road where they are working on controlling Russian Knapweed.

From there, the tour will head to the Becker Family Stock Farm, then out to Anchor Dam for a catered lunch. While at Anchor, visitors will hear about the Black Henbane weed that appears to only grow in that particular spot in the county.

In addition, gentlemen who worked on building the dam will be on hand to tell folks all about its construction and the Bureau of Reclamation will talk about the inner workings of the dam.

The tour will return to Thermopolis between 3:00 and 3:30 that afternoon.

The tour is free and there is no registration required, simply be at Weed and Pest, 711 Springview Street by 9 a.m.
