Resignation of RWE principal accepted

At a special meeting of the Hot Springs County School District Board of Trustees Monday night, the resignation of Laurie Graves, Ralph Witters Elementary principal was accepted.

“I have had truly mixed emotions,” Graves said. “It took a lot of time to make this decision.”

Graves will be taking a principal’s position at Meadowlark Elementary in Buffalo. The move will put her in closer proximity to her husband who lives in Sheridan and to her elderly parents.

“It will be a tough good-bye here,” she said. “I love the staff. We have created a really cohesive unit here and I think I’m leaving them in a very good spot.

“I’m definitely going on positive terms. I’ve been working closely with Catie (Deromedi), so it should be a smooth transition.”

Deromedi will be taking the RWE principal position, leaving the district without a Dean of Students, but they are posting the position to get it filled this summer.
