Richard Evans

Richard L."Dick" "Rich" Evans, 92, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2017, at Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital in Thermopolis following a short illness.

Born in Casper, Wyo., October 30, 1925, he was one of six children of Lola R. and Lucille (Wilgus) Evans. After attending Natrona County High School he enlisted at age 17 in the US Navy. He served in WW II along with his two older brothers.

Returning to Casper after his honorable discharge in 1946, he met Margueritte "Marge" Anderson and they were married in March of 1947. To this union was born three children, Rita, Gary and Dee Ann.

Rich was employed as an accountant for Marathon Oil in Casper, retiring after 32 years of service. In 1979, the couple and their son, Gary and family moved to Thermopolis where they purchased Mac's Bar which they operated 17 years.

A lifetime member of the VFW Post #2281 and Eagles Lodge Aerie 1884, he loved hunting and fishing and visiting with his many Thermopolis friends.

He is survived by his children, Rita L. Evans and Gary R. Evans, both of Thermopolis; son-in-law, John Taylor; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marge, of 65 years; daughter, Dee Ann Taylor; and siblings, Anita, Nadine, Donald, Robert and Ivan.

A celebration of life will take place later in the spring or summer when family members can attend. Memorials may be made to the VFW Post 2281, 302 Broadway, Thermopolis, 82443.
