Veterans assistance available twice in December

Josh Schmidt, a veterans service officer from the Wyoming Veterans Commission, will conduct community outreach services in Wyoming cities through December.

Schmidt is available to meet with veterans and their families to discuss state and federal veterans’ benefits, Department of Veterans claims or VA healthcare. He can also help veterans and their families apply for benefits, file claims or request healthcare.

Schmidt will be available in Thermopolis on Thursday, Dec. 7, noon-2 p.m. at the Hot Springs County Museum and on Thursday, Dec. 14, noon-2 p.m. at the Hot Springs County Senior Citizens Center.

Appointments with Schmidt can be scheduled by calling 307-250-3890, and his office is staffed in Cody, at 1026 Blackburn Ave., Suite 1. In inclement weather, outreach locations can be contacted to ensure he is available. Schmidt, a former U.S. Marine, is available to meet with veterans and their families in addition to the scheduled outreach.
