Senior center sees increase in cinnamon roll sales

The fall cinnamon roll fundraiser at the Hot Springs County Senior Center wrapped up earlier this month, and director, Lisa Pierce, said it went amazingly well and a total of 219 dozen rolls were sold. The total is up from 209 dozen at this time a year ago.

The money brought in from the sales totals about $4,000, Pierce said, which will go to keeping the doors open and the lights on at the center. She further explained the state and federal grants they apply for require matching funds, and the money goes to that.

Pierce was impressed with the amount of teamwork shown at the center during the sales. Some staff kept busy with making the rolls, while others made sure there was plenty to eat for the lunches served on the bake days. Even the custodians had their hands full, washing pans to keep them clean so they could be filled time and time again.

Pierce also expressed her appreciation to the people of Thermopolis for their support of the center, during the sale and year-round. Those who missed the November sale will still have a chance to get rolls during the last week of February and the first couple weeks in March, just in time for Easter.
