Middle school wrestlers performing well

With a quad at Thermopolis last Thursday and a dual team tournament at Lander last Saturday, the Thermopolis Middle School wrestlers certainly saw plenty of action last week.

Coach Toby Emery said, "We had a busy week wrestling six duals in all! It was a nice change to wrestle in Thermopolis in front of our home crowd on Thursday afternoon! The boys are gaining experience and finding their niche. Saturday was a learning experience.

"We faced some new teams from across the state with a lot of experience and it was beneficial for the boys to reflect on their matches. Wyatt McDermott had a great tournament going undefeated 4-0."

As for results at the Thermopolis quad, Dalton Price won by a 3:15 fall over Ezra Hernandez of Riverton, won by a 9-5 decision over Hunter Smith of Lander and won by a 2:40 fall over Coal Laird of Lander

Seth Needham lost by a 17-7 decision to Gauge Slinkard of Rverton, lost by a 3:59 fall to Creighton White of Lander and lost by a 45-second fall to James Langlois of Lander.

Charlie Sandberg lost by a 7-1 decision to Zach Schamber of Riverton, won by a 9-0 decision over Michael Munda of Riverton and lost by a 30-second fall to Gabe Harris of Lander.

Rayne Arrends lost by a 1:58 fall to Daxton Fischer of Riverton, won by a 33-second fall over Tristen Anderson of Riverton and lost by a 3:10 fall to Charles Snyder of Lander.

Wyatt McDermott lost by a 2-1 decision to Elijah Hernandez of Riverton and won by a 47-second fall over Ceasar Weed of Lander

Roedy Farrell won by a 19-second fall over Tyler Dorrell of Riverton, won by a 55-second fall over Paxton Rees of Riverton and won by a 1:28 fall over Blaine Goklish of Lander

Matt Music lost by a 7-4 decision to Ryan Watson of Riverton, won by a 15-2 decision over Lyric Gordon of Riverton and won by a 6-5 decision over Ryan Edinger of Lander

Mason Reece lost by a 1:48 fall to Adrian Groves of Riverton and lost by a 34 second fall to Jack Pasquinelli of Lander

Jarek Sorenson lost by an 8-3 decision to Rhett Stover of Riverton, and won by forfeit over Asher Adams of Lander

Clark Emmett lost by a 2:26 fall to Parker DeVries of Riverton and lost by a 1:11 fall to Ben Shade of Lander

Jack Whittaker won by a 1:31 fall over Teagon Long of Riverton and won by a 1:50 fall over Whitehawk SunRhodes of Lander

Ethan Music won by a 59-second fall over Jeramiah Salmo of Lander.

Though Worland was also part of the quad, Thermopolis did not wrestle them.

As for the dual team tournament at Lander, Thermopolis took on the Renegades, as well as Jackson, Green River and Rock Springs. Records from the tournament, in addition to Wyatt McDermott's perfect finish were: Chris Bapst 0-2, Dalton Price 2-2, Seth Needham 1-3, Ethan Crow 1-2, Charlie Sandberg 0-4, Rayne Arrends 1-3, Ethan Music 0-4, Roedy Farrell 3-1, Mason Reece 0-4, Matt Music 1-3.

Looking at this week, Emery said, "We have a solid five days of practice to gear up for our next tournament, which is in Cody, this Saturday, November 18. The tournament starts at 9:30 a.m."
