Hoop shoot set for November 16

The Hot Springs County Recreation District Turkey Hoop Shoot is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 16 at the armory. Students from second grade up to age 15 can participate, and the fee is a non-perishable food item that will be donated to the Holiday Baskets program.

The shoot is made up of two timed competitions. On one end of the court, there are various places to stand, each worth a different amount of points for baskets made. On the other end, it’s a contest to see how many free throws shooters can make in the given time.

Parental participation is required in the event, as each child and his or her parent will shoot. Parents will rebound shots for their kids and vice versa. First place in each age division will win a turkey.

Registration for the event is Nov. 16 at 6:30 p.m. at the armory, with the shoot starting at 7 p.m. For any questions or concerns, please contact the Recreation Office at 864-3767.
