Anyone with a lyric or ballad they want to share is invited to participate in the Friends of the Library poetry and songwriting contest. The event is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. Nov. 11 at the Hot Springs County Museum.
Though still a few weeks before the event, Becky Hutson noted entries are already coming in. Submissions should be original pieces, and there are no regulations as to length or style. There are age divisions for elementary, middle school, high school and adult, with cash prizes for first second and third place in each.
There is no cost to enter, and forms can be picked up at the Hot Springs County Library. Entries should be in by Nov. 4, and the day of the big event there will be a rehearsal to determine if contestants need any additional items such as music or other accompaniment.
There is no cost to enter the contest or come watch the performers, and refreshments will be served.
