History through the eyes of TMS students

A very special Hot Springs County Historical Society program will be presented on Saturday, Oct. 14 at the Hot Springs County Museum and Cultural Center at 2 p.m.

Kristin Ryan, a seven year educator at Thermopolis Middle School will present the program, “History seen through the eyes of Middle School Students in Hot Springs County.”

Last year, Ryan developed a class project where students did research on historical topics and then created a “living wax museum” where they portrayed individual historical persons, complete with costumes and props.

Ryan’s efforts paid off in a big way when she was given an Unsung Hero Grant for her innovative teaching methods.

The program is free and open to the public.
