Importance of the HSC Senior Citizens Center

I know the importance of the Hot Springs County Senior Citizens Center and its role in our community. We are in essence a retirement community and it’s because of resources like the Hot Springs County Senior Citizens Center that we are able to keep promoting healthy living and lifestyles for our much-respected aging population.

Currently the senior citizens center provides many different activities including billiards, card games, Bingo, a library and even touring trips. In my humble opinion, even if all the center offered was an opportunity to socialize I would see this as a vital part of our community. They, however, do so much more, providing both in house lunch Monday through Friday as well as at home meals catered thanks to Meals on Wheels. Seniors can also get weekly blood pressure checks and the center offers a yearly flu shot clinic.

Lastly, but of the utmost importance, seniors have access to get help with tracking their finances, signing up for Medicare and help with other paperwork. On top of all this, the staff at the Hot Springs County Senior Center are some of the best and brightest on the face of this earth. They are universally loved and respected not by just the residents they serve on a daily basis but by our entire community.

In closing I want to leave you with a quote. “Many of our elderly population are forgotten about or disregarded. . . One day we will all be where they are. Is this how we will want to be treated? Our elderly deserves to be honored and respected!” It is for all the above reasons the Hot Springs County Senior Center has my overwhelming support.
