Bobcat golf season underway

Hot Springs County High School’s golf team began their practices last week, gearing up for their fall season.

Two members of the team went to Powell for their Invitational on Thursday and Friday of last week – returning State Champion Hudson Roling and Cade McLean.

Roling scored a 73 the first day of play followed by a 76 the second day. This put him in second place for the tournament. McLean shot a 99 the first day and a little better, 91, on the second day.

“It wasn’t a bad tournament,” coach Jacob Smith said. “Great improvement for Cade (McLean) from day one to day two.

“Hudson played well, but is still not scoring like he wants to. We will continue to work on improving tournament play as he seeks to defend his State title.”

This week sees the JV team at home today (Thursday), starting at noon.

Smith said all the golfers, with the exception of Roling, will be playing, so he will be able to see wehre the team is with all their new golfers.

The current roster for the Cats includes, Roling, McLean, Clemons Abbott, Jeffry Clark, Kyle Roessing and Madeline Stam.

Schedule: 8/31 – 9/1, Buffalo; 9/7 -- 9/8, 3A East Regionals at Wheatland; 9/15 – 9/16, State Tournament at Douglas.
