Farmers Market starts up this month

Those who are looking for some homegrown foods or handmade crafts can check out the Thermopolis Farmers Market, beginning Saturday, July 29, and each following Saturday through Sept. 30, on Fifth Street south of Broadway. The event is sponsored by the Red Dirt Master Gardeners.

Those looking to sell at the market should register at the Master Gardener table and submit fees before setting up. Vehicles will be allowed in the setup area until 7:45 a.m.; after that time, all items must be hand carried in. Vehicles can remain in the vending area as long as space is available. If space becomes tight, those vehicles not required for vending must park elsewhere.

Market times are from 8-11 am. Set up begins at 7 a.m. with the street reopening at 12 p.m. No sales prior to the opening bell at 8 a.m. are allowed. Please register at the Master Gardener Table and submit fees before setting up.

Vendors must provide the tables, chairs and booths they need, along with any change. Pets should be left at home, and the space is designated non-smoking. Vendors are also required to clean up their areas and dispose of any waste.

Market manager Sonja Becker said the market usually sees about a dozen vendors, with varying wares depending on the day. Any products made by vendors can be sold, though sale of products made by someone else is discouraged.

Products include: raw agricultural, animal, prepared foods and non-agricultural. Please be sure your products do not require a special license. If you have any questions contact Wyoming Department of Agriculture Inspector Joe Martinez at 864-3674.
