Thermopolis Wrestling Club hosting camp

The Thermopolis Wrestling Club will be putting on a freestyle and Greco-Roman technique camp on Saturday, July 15 at the Hot Springs County Armory Building. From 8 a.m. until noon, the focus will be on freestyle, with all ages welcome — from Pee Wee, ages 5-6, to School Boy, ages 13-14. From 1-4 p.m. will be the Greco/Roman portion for Bantams, ages 7-8, and older.

Club President Scott Sorenson will be the head instructor, and coaches and high school wrestlers will also be helping out. Sorenson said the freestyle portion would not be too hectic, though when they get to Greco/Roman they will be doing a bit more aggressive maneuvers including a couple throws. As the camp progresses through the day, Sorenson said, they will be doing some drills.

Additionally, there will be information regarding wrestling rules, so parents are also encouraged to attend. Sorensen said they will also go over what techniques could be used in Greco/Roman style and not in Folkstyle, and vice-versa.

Sorenson said they are looking to get more people interested in wrestling, which will hopefully get them trying out for the sport.

There is no cost to any wrestlers for the camp. Lunch will be provided, as well as water and Gatorade. Those attending are asked to bring their current USAW card or current insurance card for paperwork reasons.

For more information, contact Sorenson at 307-696-9426.
