Artstroll kicks off Friday evening

The Stroll into Summer ArtStroll kicks off Friday evening with a gallery opening in their new location, artists, demonstrations, live music, and receptions.

Paint a Turtle on a river rock art activity will be the highlight of this stroll. Led by Smoking Waters Art Guild members, anyone can paint a turtle on a river rock for your room, yard or garden at the Hot Springs County Museum Friday evening from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The activity is free.

Be sure to pick up a map at a participating business to discover where the artists and activities are located along the Stroll.

Learn to spin with Andrea Linn. Her interest in spinning started with her love of animals.  She had a friend who had llamas, and she loved the idea of making her own fiber.

Additional textile demonstrators are Joyce Fletcher, Jane Oldridge and Donald Vincent. Susan Langford will do healing oil demonstrations throughout the evening.  Travis Hart will be demonstrating sculpting during the evening as well.

The featured artists for this month’s ArtStroll are AB Word and Barrie Lynn Bryant. Barrie and AB have lived in Kirby for the last 23 years. Both are accomplished artists and have travel the United States participating in Art Shows and Festivals

They recently won Best of Show in Estes Park, Colo., and they’re headed to Saratoga at the end of June and to the Cheyenne Arts Festival in August.

Join AB and Barrie during an artist reception Friday evening.

Other artists joining the Stroll include Sallie Wesaw, multi-media, Barb Rice, repurposing art and Ana Mosser, jewelry will be joined by the Hospital Auxiliary’s Stroll into Summer Bake Sale. Stroll to see Jennifer Taylor, Worland, goat milk soaps and lotions and Stephanie Conrad repurposing art. Barbara Clothier returns to the stroll with her photography and greeting cards and Douglas Nelson will have his creative photography on display.

Harold Hutson and friends will be playing music at the stroll. Want a chance to be on stage? Bring your instruments or props for an Open Mic session. Recite a poem, play a song, or do a dance. The microphone and your imagination is all that’s needed to be a star on stage.

The Second-Friday ArtStroll and Still Strolling Saturday are organized by Hot Springs Greater Learning Foundation and Smoking Waters Art Guild with additional help from Main Street Thermopolis, Downtown Businesses, and Hot Springs Travel & Tourism.
