The world continues to spin

Well, it’s come and gone. The election run of 2016 has officially come to an end. Like I‘m sure many of you were, I was glued to various television news stations for the national results and to my social media feed for the local results.

Allow me to first extend my congratulations to those who won the offices for which they were running. To those who didn’t, I encourage you to look ahead and prep for the next election. Don’t let this election discourage you from that. In the meantime, I’m sure there will be plenty of opportunities to take an active role in some of the political decisions being made in the coming years.

While the election might not have turned out the way you thought at any level, we all woke up today and there have, as of yet, been no threats toward our nation. I haven’t heard yet if there has been a mass exodus to Canada, as many citizens and celebrities have promised over the last few months.

I, for one, am interested in seeing how it all plays out, though that interest is only a mild one with regard to the presidency. Yes, there will be decisions made by Mr. Trump that will have negative and positive results on myself and my family, but that’s true with every person who’s ever sat in the Oval Office. My focus is more on the local level, primarily with regard to the propositions involving the hospital.

In my profession, I have heard the arguments from both sides concerning the special tax and the hospital district. It was ultimately a decision by the people, a decision that was made known late last night. As with the political races, it remains to be seen where that choice takes us.

Regardless, the world will keep spinning. We’re entering a lot of new territory with these results, and I for one hope the journey is, if anything, for the better.
