H.O.P.E. offers free clothing and haircuts for kids

The H.O.P.E. Agency will be hosting a free clothing and haircut event for back to school on Wednesday, Aug. 24 for the first time. Used clothing will be available from 9 a.m.-noon and free haircuts by local hairstylists from 9-11 a.m. at the H.O.P.E. Agency.

H.O.P.E. Agency Director Jennifer Domhoff said the clothes are for children from preschool to junior high.

“We just see so many people that are needy and we’re just trying to help in any way we can. It’s our way of helping the community.”

Victim Advocate Jane Norskog said clothes can still be donated through Aug. 23. Monetary donations are being accepted now and during the event.

“We have hairstylists coming in,” she said. “They’re professionals and all we ask is that their hair be clean.”

Victim Advocate Janic Bartlow said it is about helping families.

“These families need some help sometimes, and it costs so much now to get the supplies for school,” she said. “It’s needed and we’ve been fortunate enough that this community has stepped up and were happy to do it. Everybody recognizes that it’s hard times right now. Any little bit is going to help out a family.”

Victim Advocate Karen Marshall and hairstylists Sherri Pebbles, Mark Danis, Bethy Jo Linnaman and Jerah Busher along with the H.O.P.E. Agency have made this event possible.

The H.O.P.E. Agency will also be having a bake sale from 7:30 a.m.-noon Thursday, Aug. 25 for fundraising in front of the H.O.P.E. Agency building.
