Wilda Haratyk

Wilda M. Haratyk, 92, passed away Thursday, June 30, 2016, at the Spirit Mountain Hospice in Cody, Wyo.

 Born March 3, 1924, in Crosby, Wyo., she was one of four children of Andrew and Twila (Ekis) Schrock. Following graduation from Thermopolis High School, she spent four years training as an RN at St. Vincent Hospital in Billings.

 On July 23, 1946, she married George M. Haratyk in Thermopolis. The couple lived at Hamilton Dome until 1975 when they moved into Thermopolis. During this time, Wilda was an RN at Memorial Hospital where she was employed for 40 years.

 In addition to raising her children she enjoyed sewing, cooking, playing Bingo and creating her Brazilian embroidery. Wilda was known for her generous giving nature. She was a member of the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and St. Francis Catholic Church.

 She is survived by her children, David (Frances) of Sherman, Texas, George Haratyk of Billings, Mont., Shirley (Larry) Ireland of Thermopolis and Janet Edwards, Cody, Wyo .; sister, Charlene (Jack) Chatwell of Thermopolis; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two great, great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her son-in-law, Ray Edwards; brother, Richard (Betty) Schrock; sister, Alberta McGinnis; and her husband, George in 2011.

Father Hugo Blotsky OSB conducted the Mass of Christian Burial, Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at St. Francis Catholic Church with burial following at Monument Hill Cemetery. A Parish Vigil was held Tuesday, July 5, 2016.
