Unhappy with lack of responsibility being taken for budget crisis

A banner headline sensationalizing a, "crisis," at the library should have been followed by the Five Ws. You failed to speak with the library director and failed to explain my position was not arbitrarily added. It was merely a retirement replacement.

If the budget, "was prepared with incorrect numbers," I accept her honest mistake and do not blame the director. A certain commissioner's "disconnect," can be solved by him looking back at the ad for the library position. It ran for three weeks. Ironically, it ran alongside ads for other county jobs I assume he approved. Ads from multiple county entities running for weeks without his knowledge during the, "raise and hiring freeze," brings up other issues entirely and explains his ignorance regarding changes to the library staff.

If the, "library's budget did not match their budget formula," this should have been addressed before it was approved and advertised. How did this escape the, "keen," eye of the library board treasurer? Any discrepancy in the budget could have been resolved before it was ever submitted to the county commissioners. Yet, it was submitted. This submission provided a third opportunity to resolve any discrepancy. Yet, it was approved by the county commissioners. Who signed-off on it?

I worked hard to bring quality programming back to the library. I did so at very, very little expense to the library (I have numbers to back up my claims). Just when I was building momentum, expectation and crowds my legs were cut out from under me. Not only was this a disservice to the library, I am entitled to be upset on behalf of my wife and myself.

What I find upsetting is the lack of responsibility being taken by others. They cannot hide behind the oil price crash as the crash occurred after the fact. Why don't these people accept responsibility for their negligence? Shouldn't we have a library board treasurer and commissioners capable of recognizing a budget error before a job is advertised, offered and accepted? Especially, in light of the extremely bleak budget projections now facing the entire county.
